In the last few minutes, David Cameron has gone into Downing Street.

I think - I don't know - but I think that means he's going to be the new foreign secretary.

We've already seen James Cleverly go in - he's currently the foreign secretary and it looks like he's going to be the new home secretary (replacing Suella Braverman).

So I think Rishi Sunak may now be in the process of making Cameron - the prime minister from 2010 to 2016 and out of politics for the last seven years - the foreign secretary.

He's certainly taking a job in government - or he wouldn't be going through that door today.

I'm told that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak asked Braverman to leave the government - not just the Home Office and the post of home secretary, but the government entirely. And she accepted.

My understanding is, had she been offered another job in government - certainly a more junior job than the high office of state that she was occupying - it was unlikely she would accept it.

What we have here is the culmination of a saga that's been running ever since the moment she was appointed as home secretary by Sunak a little over a year ago.

You'll remember she served as home secretary under Liz Truss, she then broke the ministerial code and left but was back in there within a week or so.

Why? Because at the last minute, when it looked like there might be a contest between Boris Johnson and Sunak to be PM, she backed Sunak.

And it was widely accepted that the trade-off to that was the return to job that she'd just left.

Since then she has regularly set off political fireworks, to the frustration of many around her in government.

But things came to a head last week - there was a growing sense from her colleagues and those in Downing Street that the frequency of her interventions was becoming a deep frustration.

Braverman was appointed home secretary by Liz Truss in September 2022.

But she was made to resign from her post after sending an official document from her personal email - against ministerial rules.

Just six days later, Rishi Sunak brought her back into position.

And now she's gone again.

It was a real surprise when James Cleverly walked up Downing Street, just moments after news broke that Suella Braverman had been sacked.

The clichéd choreography of reshuffles would suggest that means Cleverly is replacing her.

But it means he, in turn, would have to be replaced as foreign secretary.

That points to a much broader shakeup of the government today.

We're seeing the first photographs of Suella Braverman from this morning, as she left her London home.

It's not known if she knew the news at the time the pictures were taken.

As we've been reporting, the former home secretary has been sacked and a reshuffle of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's top team is imminent.

The home secretary has been under increased pressure after writing an article in the Times, published on Thursday.

She criticised what she called "pro-Palestinian mobs", saying protest scenes were "disturbingly reminiscent" to those seen in Northern Ireland.

She also slammed the Met Police for a "double standard" over their handling of protests.

It later emerged that Downing Street had not signed off on Braverman's article.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to carry out a cabinet reshuffle today, a government source tells us.
