    Simon Dedman
    BBC Essex political reporter

We reported earlier that the fight for Harlow Council in Essex was likely to be very close.

A senior Conservative source says as it stands they look to have won two of the seats and Labour one in the marginal ward of Latton Bush & Stewards, where there is set to be a recount.

They believe it would mean the Conservatives would have a majority of one and hold Harlow Council. This is because both parties believe they have won 15 seats each in the other wards.

Labour, meanwhile, have just held three seats in Little Parndon and town centre. Their group leader and parliamentary candidate Chris Vince held his seat.

    Ellis Palmer
    Political reporter, BBC Lancashire

We're still waiting to hear the result for the Blackpool South by-election - but we've now learnt the turnout. It was 18,448 - meaning that 32.54% of eligible voters cast their ballots in the constituency.

That's much lower than the figure for the 2019 general election, which was 56.8%, although turnout tends to be lower for by-elections.

Down on the counting room floor, it's looking like Labour in first place, with Reform UK and the Conservatives battling it out for second place.
