    SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford also quotes David Lidington's comments about it being "downright reckless" to asks for a short extension with no deal agreed.

    Theresa May says she believes that nearly three years on from the referendum, it is time for the Commons to "deliver on Brexit for the British people".

    Mr Blackford says Theresa May's deal has failed and she is "acting in her own interest".

    He says the decision should be put back to the people, and that the people of Scotland deserve better, adding: "If Westminster fails, Scotland will act."

    Theresa May says Parliament gave the decision to the British people and that it is "imperative" that Parliament delivers on the Brexit the British people voted for.

    He asks the prime minister if she will meet him to discuss a way forward.

    Theresa May says "it is a bit rich" of the Labour leader to ask for a meeting when "for days and days he refused to meet me".

    She adds that she is always happy to meet MPs to discuss Europe but says "we should be delivering Brexit".

    The prime minister responds to a question from SNP MP Pete Wishart attacking the government's Brexit policy.

    Theresa May says that the idea that the public should be asked to elect a new set of MEPs "is unacceptable".

    She says she has written to President of the EU Council, Donald Tusk, informing the UK will be seeking an extension to 30 June.

    The government intends to bring forward proposals for a third meaningful vote, she says.

    "As prime minister I am not prepared to delay Brexit any further than 30 June," she says.

    Hello and welcome to our coverage from Westminster today.

    Theresa May will no doubt face plenty of questions on Brexit later when she is due in the Commons for Prime Minister’s Questions.

    She is expected to send a letter requesting a delay to Brexit later, ahead of an EU summit tomorrow where she will discuss the matter with fellow leaders.

    Before that though, business in the Commons will get underway shortly with questions to ministers at the Department for International Development.
