  19. 'Kindness is more contagious than coronavirus'published at 11:15 British Summer Time 22 April 2020

    Mornings with Kaye Adams
    BBC Radio Scotland

Dr David Hamilton, author of "The Five Side-Effects of Kindness", tells BBC Radio Scotland "it is definitely worth searching for the good news" during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Physiologically speaking, kindness is the opposite of stress," he says. "It doesn't mater if you are the giver of the kindness, or the receiver of kindness, or even if you just witness it. That feeling it generates stimulates the immune system in an opposite way than feeling stressed, which can temporarily dampen the immune system."

Dr Hamilton says it is not about avoiding or ignoring reality but "reducing your exposure" to it.

He suggests "kindness is more contagious than coronavirus".
