    Prof Sian Griffiths said Prime Minister Boris Johnson must adopt a cautious approach when it comes to easing the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.

    The public health expert, who chaired the Hong Kong Government's inquiry into the 2003 Sars outbreak, told BBC Good Morning Scotland: "As we have already seen this weekend many people have gone out and there's not a huge amount of evidence of social distancing in some places.

    "People are really wanting to start moving around again so things have to be taken very carefully because, if we don't take them carefully, we risk another outbreak of disease, another peak in this virus.

    "That will make things worse again for ourselves and the economy."

    Police in Scotland have recorded more than 100 coronavirus-related attacks and threats aimed at officers.

    They included being spat at or deliberately coughed on.

    The force described these incidents as "outrageous and disgraceful" and said they would result in automatic arrest.
