Deirdre Michie, chief executive of trade body Oil and Gas UK, told Radio Scotland that a drop in activity and job losses were a “worrying time” for the sector.

She said: “We are managing our way through Covid, we have seen the crash in the oil price and the low gas prices.”

The comments follow BP’s announcement that it will cut 10,000 jobs following a global slump in demand for oil.

Rank and file police have demanded that those who commit "Covid-19 assaults" should be automatically held in custody until they appear in court.

The Scottish Police Federation (SPF) said current criminal justice policies favoured those committing offences over officers enforcing the lockdown.

In a submission to Holyrood's sub-committee on policing the federation called this "morally indefensible."
