    Nicola Sturgeon will begin her statement to the Scottish Parliament shortly as MSPs debate and vote on the Scottish government’s framework for future Covid restrictions.

    Local authorities are to be put in one of five levels, from zero, which is the last restrictive, up to four, which is getting close to the full lockdown imposed earlier this year.

    Nightclubs and soft play centres which have been closed since March will be eligible for more funding from the Scottish government.

    One-off grants of up to £50,000, based on rateable value, will be available to businesses in both sectors through the Covid-19 Contingency Fund.

    Guidance will be published this week to help soft play centres on reopening, which under the new restrictions can only happen at level one.

    1,100 patients are in hospital with a confirmed case - an increase of 48 from yesterday - with 82 being treated in intensive care, falling from 90 patients yesterday.

    A further 25 people who tested positive have died, taking the total to 2,726 deaths in Scotland by that measure.

    Latest Scottish government figures reveal a further 1,327 people have tested positive for Covid-19, 8.7% of those tested yesterday.

    This takes the total number of positive cases in Scotland to 59,201.

    Health board breakdown:

    NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde: 454

    NHS Lanarkshire: 347

    NHS Lothian: 202

    NHS Ayrshire and Arran: 96

    The remaining cases are spread across the other health boards.
