  1. Scotland 'must err on the side of caution'published at 14:18 British Summer Time 1 June 2021

    Nicola Sturgeon

The first minister says that Scotland is "currently at a delicate and fragile point", but hopes we are in a "transition" to a different way of dealing with Covid.

She says vaccinations are opening the path to a less restrictive way of dealing with Covid, which is driven less by case numbers.

However, she says not all adults have been fully vaccinated with two doses so far. When the so-called Indian variant, which is more infectious, is added to the mix it "compounds" the challenge, she says. This variant now accounts for well over half of daily cases.

"All of this means that at this critical stage to avoid being knocked off course completely we must still err on the side of caution," Ms Sturgeon adds.

The number of children waiting at least a year for mental health treatment has almost trebled since the pandemic hit.

New figures show that by March this year the figure was 2,012.

The Scottish Children's Services Coalition (SCSC) said the figures were the "worst on record".

  5. Which areas have the highest case rates?published at 13:56 British Summer Time 1 June 2021

Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire both currently have case rates higher than Glasgow.

Concern has recently been raised about rising infections in Dundee, which have increased from a very low level in a relatively short space of time.

A seven-day average case rate of 50 per 100,000 people has previously been seen as a threshold for a move from level three to level two, while 20 cases per 100,000 is the target for level one easing.
