“Welcome to the UK Eras tour” reads the chalk art message fans Sian Evans and Laura Davies from Swansea have created outside Murrayfield. “We wanted to make a big statement for the fans and Taylor herself,” Sian says.
The swifties are being invited to grab some chalk and help colour it in.
5-year-old Ella from Edinburgh is already getting stuck in.
Taylor Alison Swift is an American musician and songwriter, born in Pennsylvania on 13 December 1989.
Swift has been active within the music industry since 2003. She started her career as a young country/pop musician at age 14, signing with Big Machine Records – her debut self-titled album Taylor Swift was released the following year.
As Swift’s career progressed, she left the country genre for a broader pop sound, with 2014’s 1989 featured synth-heavy hits like Style, Shake It Off and Bad Blood.
Swift has been a famous musician since the start of her career, but what shot her further into the spotlight was the public copyright battle with music manager Scooter Braun, who bought her old record company, Big Machine Records.
This led to Swift losing the rights to her master recordings, which led the star to begin re-recording her first six albums - four of which have been released so far.
The Eras Tour started in March 2023 and is expected to become the highest grossing tour in music history, making Swift a billionaire.
The US star who was once known for her prolific scathing songwriting about ex-boyfriends like Joe Jonas, John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal in her music, has now arguably become the world’s largest music superstar who has connected with a worldwide audience, to the extent she was Time magazine’s Person of the Year in 2023.
Ellie Peach is a nurse from Australia who travelled all the way to Edinburgh to see Taylor on her first show of her UK leg.
She has been working overtime in emergency wards to earn extra money to buy the tickets. On Tuesday, she did a night shift and later on Wednesday she got on the plane to Scotland.
Speaking to BBC Breakfast, she said: “If all that overtime in emergency and working as a nurse doesn’t get me Taylor Swift tickets, what’s it worth you know. This is what it’s all about,” she said.
Ellie saw the tour in Australia as well. Her show on Friday night will mean she’s seen Taylor 11 times.
“It’s the best night, everything you expect and more in my opinion. It’s the best night I’ve had and I can’t wait to experience it again. I feel so lucky to experience it again."

The most lucrative concert tour in music history lands in the UK on Friday, when Taylor Swift plays the first of three nights at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.
The star will take to the stage shortly after 19:00 BST, playing to almost 73,000 fans, who’ve come from all over the world to see her career-spanning, three-hour show.
It will be the first of 17 UK dates, culminating in a record-breaking eight-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium.
By then, she will have played to almost 1.2 million UK fans, with an average ticket price of £206.

Lily and Grace from Aberdeen were number one and two in the queue outside Murrayfield this morning.
The girls woke up at 4:00 and arrived at the stadium for 5:30.
Lily says: “I love Taylor Swift so much so if I can be as close as I can to her, I’ll do anything to be there.
“I’m going to go in the diamond so I can see her when she comes down to the stage on the Lover’s set and just stay there and have the best time ever."
Grace says Taylor really understands what girls and everyone goes through, that's why she's so likeable.
"I think there’s a song by her for every occasion. If you’re happy, if you’re sad, if you’re feeling bad, there’s a song for every mood you could ever be in."
It’s a drizzly start in Edinburgh but that isn’t dampening anyone’s spirits. This swiftie has certainly come prepared. Rob, 35 has travelled from Somerset with his wife and sister-in-law for the occasion.
They are excited to hear Taylor perform material from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, and are hoping the rain goes away.

For Jasmine Brown and Kai Walker, from Essex, the concert outfit is a big deal!
They’ve come dressed to the them of Taylor Swift song ‘Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince’.
Jasmine said: “We’ve been planning our outfits since January. This is Kai’s favourite song ans it’s the opening song of the tour so we decided to do a cute little couples costume. To me, Taylor Swift is my god.”
Kai said: “It was a little bit stressful to get the tickets but we got them on resale at the start of the year. We both paid £700 each for the tickets, so it is quite an investment, but we’re so excited.”

After months of anticipation, the Eras tour finally lands in the UK.
Amazingly, tonight is only the second time Taylor has played in Scotland – the last time being on the 1989 tour back in 2015.
She returns an even bigger star than last time.
No pop star has achieved this level of cultural dominance since Michael Jackson and Madonna in the 1980s.
Taylor’s every move is documented, analysed and dissected. Her albums set sales records, her concerts register on the Richter scale, and her relationship with American Football star Travis Kelce gave the Super Bowl its highest-ever audience - even though she didn’t even play.
Demand for tickets in Edinburgh is sky-high.
Scalpers are charging up to £3,000 for just one seat at tonight’s show, and fans who can’t get into Murrayfield Stadium are expected to gather outside for the chance just to hear her(in the US, this phenomenon was dubbed“Taylor-gating”.)
The star is due on stage around 7pm tonight. Stay with us as the action unfolds.
