    Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson explains why she has taken to the skies to go coast to coast to find people that are thinking about voting Conservative for the first time.

    Ms Davidson says: "You don't have to be a dyed in the wool Tory, it's about me doing a specific job for you."

    She says if she is the strong opposition leader the country needs she will hold the SNP to account.

    Ms Davidson also says she will say not to a sedond independence referendum.

    The Scottish Labour leader says the election is a "chance to stop the cuts." 

     Kezia Dugdale says if you use both votes for Labour on Thursday, that will happen and the powers Holyrood has and will have will be used.

    Ms Dugdale says: "The Labour party is the only party with a plan to stop the cuts." 

    She says her party will use the tax powers that the parliament has to stop cuts to public spending. 

  3. Lib Dems want to make Scotland 'one of the best countries in the world'published at 16:15 British Summer Time 3 May 2016

    The Liberal Democrat leader, Willie Rennie, visited a mini golf course to get his message across.

    Mr Rennie says: "Our message is about getting Scotland to be one of the best countries in the world again.

    "We want to boost our education system with a modest penny on income tax."

    SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon is urging people across the country to cast both votes for the SNP on Thursday, by making a personal commitment to stand up for jobs and industry across the country. She says the SNP is the only party with a credible plan to boost skills, support industry and create jobs in Scotland.

    Launching the SNP’s new business magazine, SNP Insight, in Aberdeen today, Ms Sturgeon highlighted the plans of a re-elected SNP government to produce a new labour market strategy within the first 100 days.

    She says this would would help to increase employment and improve the quality of jobs in Scotland.

    The SNP leader said it would also ensure we have the skills and the people we need to grow Scotland’s economy.

    First up the SNP:

    • increasing the number of apprenticeships from 25,000 to 30,000 per year by 2020
    • professional baccalaureate, enabling young people to leave school with a broader range of skills for the workplace
    • introduce a Jobs Grant of £100 (£250 if you have children) for young people aged 16-24 who have been out of work for six months and are starting a job for more than 16 hours a week
    • reduce youth unemployment by 40% by 2021

    BBC Radio Scotland's John Beattie has been out talking to party candidates who are canvassing for votes.

    Scottish Labour candidate Bill Butler, who is canvassing in Anniesland, says he tries to establish what issues affect the people he is talking to most and that he normally finds the public polite and friendly.

    He says people often tell him which way they are going to vote and many have said they will vote for Scottish Labour. 

    Mr Butler is canvassing for votes with two black eyes and a bandage on his nose which he says happened during a doorstep visit where he tripped and hit his face.

    John Beattie has been on the election trail talking to party candidates who have been canvassing for votes.

    Scottish Lib Dem candidate Carole Ford says canvassing involves a whole range of activities including leafleting which has left her with a cut hand from letterboxes.

    Ms Ford, who is canvassing in Glasgow Kelvin, says it is more fun than you would think and the majority of people actually like to talk on doorsteps.

    She says ultimately she wants to find out what way people are going to vote and she takes details to contact them ahead of the vote to talk further and persuade them to cast their vote for her party.

  18. Nicola Sturgeon tells 100 year old SNP member the election is an 'historic opportunity'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 3 May 2016

    SNP Leader Nicola Sturgeon discussed the “historic opportunity” to secure a third-term in government while visiting SNP member Bert Clark on his 100th birthday.  The visit came two days before the Scottish Parliamentary election – with the SNP hoping to become the first party to secure a third term in office.

    Ms Sturgeon said that Scotland had changed dramatically over Bert’s lifetime and promised to use the next term to continue historic reforms to health and education. She said:“It was fantastic and inspirational to meet Bert on his 100th birthday – and it was a reminder of the historic opportunity for the SNP to secure an unprecedented third term in government."

    Ms McLaughlin, an SNP Glasgow list candidate, says there has been a lot of chapping doors but says she has used social media and facebook a lot as well.

    Ms McLaughlin says digital billboards are also being used by the SNP and a lot of videos are being shared through social media. 

    She say people are getting her party's message of course but they can then come on and question you too.
