    Paralympics GB celebrated an impressive performance at the Rio 2016 Games as they won 147 medals, finishing second in the medal table.

    And the Scots competing in the team played their part in that success, winning 17 of those medals.

    That tally surpassed the London 2012 total of 11 medals won by Scottish participants.

    The most medals won by Scots at a Paralympic Games - 31- was in Sydney 16 years ago.

    Visually impaired sprinter Libby Clegg was crowned a double Paralympic champion after gold medals in the T11 100m and 200m.

    Scotland's largest health board is to consult the public on controversial proposals to close or cut down on some in-patient and maternity services.

    NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde needs to save about £69m in the coming year.

    Options include closing Lightburn Hospital and the birthing unit at Vale of Leven. Consultation begins next month with a decision due in December.

    Scottish ministers have said they would not approve any plans that "do not properly reflect" local concerns.

    The board has claimed that the proposals are motivated by the clinical need for change and would not in themselves save £69m.

    Scottish Labour MSP Jackie Baillie says the closure of the community maternity unit at the Vale of Leven Hospital must be a major service change.

    Ms Sturgeon says the health secretary will make that decision and there are only proposals at this point.

    The first minister says the Vale of Leven was under threat from Labour in the past and it was the SNP that saved it.

    More children and young people in Scotland are being seen by mental health professionals.

    New statistics, published earlier this month, show the number using services has risen by nearly a third in the last two years.

    There were 4,642 children and young people seen in the quarter ending June 2016, compared to 3,560 in the same period in 2014. That was a rise of 30%.

    A team led by Health Improvement Scotland is working in some of the board areas with the longest waits.

    For adult psychological therapies, there were 12,779 people seen in the quarter, with 81.2% seen within 18 weeks.

    Mr Rennie asks why the Scottish is government letting these children down.

    The first minister says there is a significant demand in for services in children's mental health.

    The session will be the first time a UK secretary of state for work and pensions has appeared before a Scottish Parliament committee.

    Scotland is setting up its own social security framework, having taken on extra welfare powers from Westminster.

    Scottish Green Party co-convener Patrick Harvie says his party has published detailed proposals to have devolved employment programmes not work with the UK benefit sanctions regime.

    Mr Harvie asks if the Scottish programme will follow suit.

    Ms Sturgeon says the sanctions regime breaches that principle and she does not want a scheme that is  "piling human misery on human misery".
