    Tory MSP Bill Bowman says continued improvements to infrastructure and skills development is important to continued inward investment. 

    Mr Bowman says Scotland neither wants of needs another independence referendum.

    The Tory MSP says more needs to be done to make sure that investors are aware that Scotland is open for business, 

    He says there is more scope for inward investment in Scotland and he is in no doubt that immigrants will continue to contribute to the Scottish economy after Brexit.

    Lib Dem Leader Willie Rennie says the EU has been a good thing for the country.

    Mr Rennie says the Tories are "re-writing history". 

    The Lib Dem Leader says it is "reckless and cavalier to dispense with the EU".

    Mr Rennie says the report shows that there are "huge gaps in our knowledge" and that is not a criticism of the authors but proof that we still do not have the answers. 

    He says "bloody-hell we need to think, we need to think pretty quickly".

    Mr Rennie apologises to the presiding officer for "going off track with the language" saying "I know you don't approve of that in East Kilbride".

    Labour MSP Pauline McNeill says the hard-line Brexit is something which would not get public support and it should be challenged.

    Ms McNeill says it is clear from the report that UK trade is important.

    The Labour MSP says EU workers make up a significant part of the workforce particularly in hospitality, education and the NHS.

    Ms McNeill says Scotland must have a say in the new immigration system.

    SNP MSP Gordon Macdonald says the ease of doing business is equally important as gaining access to the single market.

    Mr Macdonald says the Scotch Whisky is worth £5bn to the Scottish economy and the UK government must ensure that protection is in place fo this crucial industry. 

    He says being a member of the EU does not only provide access for Scottish goods to markets but also provides skilled labour for Scotland.

    Brexit Minister Mike Russell says the government plan is to stay in the single market and continue working with the rest of the UK under the same trading conditions as are currently in place now.

    The Scottish Labour MSP says there is a role for Scottish Development International in increasing exports, but there is also a roll for Scottish Enterprise

    She says the Scottish government has cut funding to Scottish Enterprise by 48% since 2009 in real terms.

    Labour MSP Jackie Baillie says she is a democrat and therefore accepts the UK is leaving the EU.

    Ms Baillie says she does believe Article 50 should be delayed and "we should get a move on in planning our exit."

    The Labour MSP says the government's own export statistics shows Scotland exports more to the rUK than the rest of the world, never mind Europe.

    Ms Baillie says, given that we are leaving the EU, "surely the SNP must consider strengthening our relationship with our neighbours."

    Tory MSP Dean Lockhart says we really need to think beyond Europe.

    Mr Lockhart says China is the second largest economy in the world and India is the seventh.
