    She had been asked about the issue by Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson, who says she is opposed to all current basic rate tax payers paying more on income tax.

    Mr Stewart says all local authorities require housing plans and these should include plans for Gypsy/Travellers.

    Mr Stevenson refers to recent comments from Tory MSP Douglas Ross on tougher enforcement for Gypsy/Travellers and asks if this is misplaced considering the contribution this community makes.

    Mr Stewart says he agrees and the government value the contribution this community makes.

    Tory MP Douglas Ross apologises for 'Gypsy traveller' comments

    A Conservative MP has apologised for saying "tougher enforcement against Gypsy Travellers" would be his number one priority if he was prime minister.

    But Moray representative Douglas Ross insisted that the issue of illegal camps was an important one which people should not shy away from debating.

    Mr Ross came under fire from human rights groups and the travelling community over the comments.

    He said he did not have time to provide context in a "quick-fire interview".

    Health Secretary Shona Robison says she met with Lothian GPs last November and the government is investing to improve GP recruitment and retention.

    Ms Robison says health and social care partnerships are using receptionists to signpost patients to the right places to take pressure off GPs.

    Mr Briggs says there is a crisis affecting GP services as they struggle to cope with demand and asks if the minister believes the government is doing enough.

    Ms Robison says she is aware of the challenges in Lothian and the government is investing in primary care to help with this.

    More than one in four GP practices in Scotland has a vacancy for a doctor, according to figures obtained by the BBC in June.

    The latest survey from the British Medical Association shows little change in the number of unfilled posts, despite a Scottish government recruitment drive launched last summer.

    The crisis in GP recruitment is a problem across the UK.

    With increasing workloads, fewer young doctors are choosing general practice.
