    SNP MSP Clare Haughey says poor mental health is the leading cause of deaths of maternal deaths.

    Post-natal depression often goes unrecognised and untreated, she states.

    The MSP calls for improvements to community care provision, noting this varies across Scotland.

    Ms Haughey says the new clinical network for perinatal mental health is a positive step towards improving services, "but we are not there yet".

    Until mothers and their families can access the care they need wherever and whenever they need it, we still have work to do, the SNP MSP concludes.

    Prisoners serving custodial sentences should be given the right to vote, a committee of MSPs has said.

    A majority of Holyrood's equalities and human rights committee said the current ban should be lifted.

    Its report said not being able to vote might impact negatively on an individual's rehabilitation.

    The two Conservatives on the committee opposed the move and the Scottish government said it had no plans to allow prisoners the vote.

    Mr Fraser cites the powerful words of a father, John Muir - whose son Damian was stabbed to death - who spoke against giving all prisoners the vote.

    He says the rights of victims like Mr Muir must be the priority.

    The first minister says: "It is my view that we should not give the vote to all prisoners."

    Green MSP John Finnie argues voting is a basic human right and highlights the benefits of allowing prisoners to vote.

    The first minister highlights the rights of victims, but stresses her belief in rehabillitation.

    Ms Sturgeon accepts there is a debate for Holyrood to have on this issue.

    The first minister says that the Scottish Parliament must consider how to comply with the European Court of Human Right's recommendation on this now the power has been devolved.

    However, she confirms she does not believe all prisoners should be given the vote.

    Ms Sturgeon adds that consultation is needed, including with the victims of crimes, and adds the Scottish government will respond to the committee's report in due course.

    Tory MSP Annie Wells expresses concern that secondary teachers do not feel equipped to deal with mental health concerns about pupils.

    Ms Sturgeon says the Scottish government is working with local authorities to ensure teachers are offered appropriate training.

    We are also working to get more preventative services in place, including in schools and other non-NHS settings, she adds.

    Campaigners have described stress as "one of the great public health challenges of our time".

    Almost three quarters of Scots who took part in a survey said they felt unable to cope in the past year.

    In the poll, commissioned by the Mental Health Foundation, more than a third of people (35%) had experienced suicidal thoughts or feelings due to stress.

    One sixth of those surveyed (16%) said they had self-harmed as a result of feelings of stress.

    The results were announced at the start of Mental Health Awareness week.

    Noting the theme of this week is stress, she says we can all take more steps to relieve pressure.

    Ms Sturgeon highlights Mental Health Minister Maureen Watt launching See Me's campaign on young people's mental health on Tuesday and adds the Scottish government hopes to explore with young people what mental health means to them.

    Ms Haughey calls for websites offering advice on how to self half or commit suicide to be removed from search engines.

    She suggests mental health support services are having to pay for expensive adverts to appear higher up in search results.
