"Passengers are sick and tired and deserve better," hits back the Labour MSP, citing the poorest performance level on record for ScotRail.

Mr Smyth says the Scottish government has given ScotRail a free pass and asks how bad does it have to get before the Scottish government acts.

    nicola sturgeonImage source, bbc

Ms Sturgeon says the government will consult on the parole system and it will be published by the end of the year.

Mr Kerr says the SNP must deliver on Michelle's Law and address temporary release.

The first minister praises the family of Michelle Stewart for their campaigning on this issue.

Temporary release is not controlled by the parole board, but the issue will be considered by the new victims' task force which will meet on 12 December, says the first minister.

The Conservatives have backed the Michelle's Law campaign which is named after teenager Michelle Stewart, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2009.

The following year, John Wilson was given a sentence of at least 12 years for stabbing Michelle to death near her home in Drongan, Ayrshire.

But her family have been told by the SPS that Wilson has been approved for first grant of temporary release after just nine years.

Her family have been campaigning for victims and their families to be given a bigger say in how decisions such as this are made, and for there to be an explicit requirement that their views to be taken into account when parole and early release are considered.

Tory MSP Liam Kerr asks what the Scottish government's position is on reforming the rules regarding the temporary release and parole of prisoners.

    nicola sturgeonImage source, bbc

The first minister points to guidance published earlier this year which she says is an "effective ban" on the use of collars as a training aid.

Ms Sturgeon accepts some members believe this is not far enough and the government will review the guidance after 12 months.

Ms Grahame asks how effective the guidance is and whether there has been a reduction in usage.

Ms Sturgeon says the guidance was only published in October so it is too soon to comment on its effectiveness.

As part of the review, consideration will be given to if further measures are required she adds.

The Scottish Government had indicated a ban on shock collars in January, after receiving a 20,000-signature petition

The Scottish government has denied doing a "U-turn" on a promised ban of dog shock collars.

The SNP had said they planned to ban electric shock collars in January of this year, after a 20,000-signature petition was handed to the Scottish government.

Government guidance was published online last month, but seemed to stop short of a ban.

A spokesperson said the government position had "not changed".

Labour MSP Neil Findlay raises the testing of medical implants, suggesting the system in the UK is "not fit for purpose". He calls for a register of all implants.

Ms Sturgeon says she is happy to give consideration to anything that lies within Scotland's powers, but regulation remains reserved.

She confirms the Scottish government has written to the regulator.

SNP MSP Sandra White highlights reports the MOD are paying staff less than the real living wage in Scotland.

    nicola sturgeonImage source, bbc

Mr Rennie says the first minister is opposed to Brexit but is potentially preparing to back it.

The Scottish Lib Dem leader adds: "This is not the time to accept any kind of new Brexit."

The first minister replies that there is a Lib Dem MP that is going to vote for Theresa May's deal, but no SNP MP will.

Ms Sturgeon insists it would be irresponsible not to look at the next best option, after remaining in the EU is excluded.
