  16. FM: The sooner Scotland is an equal, normal independent country the betterpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 25 April 2019

    Scottish Green co-convener Patrick Harvie

Scottish Green co-convener Patrick Harvie says it is a shame no one has welcomed yesterday's announcement about putting Scotland's future back in Scotland's hands.

The Greens agree change is needed, he adds, especially in changing the economy to respond to climate change.

It is clear that neither devolution, a currency union or the vision in the SNP's Grown Commission does not make real change possible, Mr Harvie insists.

Ms Sturgeon says she does not agree with Mr Harvie's views but welcomes his backing of independence.

Given the price we are paying by being governed by Westminster, why shouldn't we be independent she asks.

"The sooner Scotland is an equal, normal independent country the better."
