The Queen addressed MSPs as part of celebrations to mark 20 years of the Scottish Parliament
She said that in the last two decades it has been a pleasure to watch Scotland "grow and prosper"
The Queen added that the parliament must be a "place to listen" as well as a place to talk
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also addressed those gathered in the chamber
She said the parliament had been "firmly established as the centre of this nation's public life"

Just before 10.00am the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon received the Crown of Scotland at Edinburgh Castle and proceeded down the Royal Mile to the Scottish Parliament, accompanied by Pipes and Drums of 1st Battalion of the Scots Guards.
It will be taken into the Scottish Parliament via Queensberry House and escorted on its journey by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, Officers of Arms and the Royal Company of Archers.

The Queen last attended the opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament in 2016
The Queen will shortly address the Scottish Parliament as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations.
The ceremony will take place almost two decades to the day since the parliament officially assumed its legal powers.
The Queen, who will be accompanied by Prince Charles, the Duke of Rothesay, will formally address MSPs in the Parliament's Debating Chamber.
The ceremony will also feature performances celebrating the best of Scottish music and culture.
The parliament was reconvened two years after Scotland voted overwhelmingly for devolution in a referendum in 1997.
The Queen travelled in a horse-drawn carriage on the day the parliament was opened in 1999
