The first minister explains discussions are continuing on this issue.

Mr Leonard says Dr Strang made just one recommendation calling for a comprehensive review of mental health services, which has failed to happen.

He goes on to say that what is worse is the fact changes are now being made before the review has been completed.

Why is there no urgency, he asks.

Isn't it time we got this done, he insists.

The first minister says she does not see any indication that the proposals will be accepted by the EU.

She also states it breaks a number of promises to Northern Ireland.

The Scottish Conservative interim leader insists he wants a deal and supports a deal, but the first minister won't vote for one.

Ms Sturgeon says she wants Scotland to stay in the EU, because it is the best option and what Scotland voted for.

She points out that Jackson Carlaw used to agree a no-deal should be avoided at all cost, but now he "does whatever Boris Johnson tells him to do".

"Jackson Carlaw does not have a shred of credibility left," the first minister concludes.

  15. FM: 'My alternative to no-deal is no Brexit'published at 12:06 British Summer Time 3 October 2019

The prospect of Jeremy Corbyn as prime minister, to which this first minister is “disgracefully open”, is worrying says Mr Carlaw.

The first minister repeatedly says she will do anything possible to stop no-deal, yet her MPs have not voted for a deal he states.

“My alternative to no-deal is no Brexit, that is what the people of Scotland voted for,” Ms Sturgeon hits back.

She accuses Mr Carlaw of "abandoning the Scottish people" by backing withdrawing opposition to a no deal.

    BorisImage source, HOC

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he has made a "genuine attempt to bridge the chasm" in order to get a fresh Brexit deal with the EU.

He told MPs his plan - which would see Northern Ireland stay in the European single market for goods but leave the customs union - "represent a compromise".

However, Mr Johnson said they were "some way from a resolution".

Jeremy Corbyn criticised the "unrealistic and damaging proposals".

And the European Commission has said there are "problematic points" in the UK's proposal and "further work is needed".

  17. Why doesn't the first minister back the Brexit deal?published at 12:05 British Summer Time 3 October 2019

    Jackson Carlaw

Scottish Conservative interim leader Jackson Carlaw says he supports the deal the UK government has offered to the EU and asks why doesn't the first minister.

"Jackson Carlaw will vote for whatever Boris Johnson tells Jackson Carlaw to vote for," replies the first minister.

Ms Sturgeon says the deal breaks all of the promises made to Ireland at the start of the Brexit process

She says the proposals will take Scotland out of the EU, the single market and the customs union "against its will".

"I won't support something like that because Scotland does not support something like that," Ms Sturgeon adds.
