    Scott Mathieson from Scottish Power says it is his company's responsibility to ensure the transport network is prepared for electric vehicles.

    "However we cannot do it alone."

    He highlights Scottish Power is a regulated monopoly and he insists Ofgem "must come with us" in terms of reaching goals.

    By 2032 we could see as many as a million EVs on the roads of Scotland, he explains, but if all these were all smart charging this would more than double the demand for energy in winter.

    Changes are needed now in the regulatory framework, he adds.
