  16. The 'compact'published at 13:29 British Summer Time 18 May 2016

A statement published on Wednesday by Labour and Plaid Cymru said there had now been "constructive and positive talks about the parties' shared priorities for the coming assembly, and future working arrangements".

The statement said: "The basis of the agreement reached, a Compact to Move Wales Forward, is the establishment of three liaison committees - on finance, legislation and the constitution.

"This will allow formalised joint working on future priorities.

"However, this does not constitute a coalition, or a formal confidence and supply arrangement [where an opposition party sustains a minority administration through budgets and any confidence votes, in return for policy concessions] and both parties reserve the right to respectfully agree to disagree."

  17. The first 100 dayspublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 18 May 2016

If Mr Jones is nominated as expected, he will tell AMs his government's priorities for the first 100 days.

Incidentally, in American politics it was Franklin D Roosevelt who invented the idea of the first 100 days of action upon which a presidency can be judged. In his first 100 days in 1933 he passed 16 pieces of major legislation, launched public works programmes and gave direct assistance to the unemployed – by now over a quarter of the total industrial workforce in the US.

But the concept of the 100 days dates back to Napoleon and was used to describe the period between his triumphant return to France from exile and his eventual defeat at Waterloo.

Welcome to Senedd Live's coverage of the second plenary of the fifth assembly.

The only agenda item is the nomination of first minister.

Welsh Labour leader Carwyn Jones is expected to be re-appointed, following a deal with Plaid Cymru to end a week of deadlock in Cardiff Bay.

The deal paves the way for Labour to form a minority Welsh Government.

Assembly members failed to elect a new first minister on 11 May, when the assembly met for the first time after an election in which Labour lost one seat, leaving it with 29 AMs out of 60.
