Former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott's claims about UK trade on Radio 4 this morning were mainly right, but not completely.
In 2018, 49% of total UK trade was with the EU (so 51% was with the rest of the world) and trade with the EU has been on a downward trend.
Remember, it's the proportion of UK trade with the EU that's been falling, not the value of it, which has been rising.
Where he is mistaken is that not all UK trade with non-EU countries is on a no-deal basis.
About 11% of total UK trade is with countries with which the EU has a trade deal, so we are not trading solely on a no-deal basis.
The former Foreign Secretary says he didn't say anything about the country during the referendum.
