Who chooses a Nobel winner?published at 09:35 British Summer Time 7 October 2022
Different organisations award the prize in each category every year. Five of the six are chosen in Sweden - but the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize is selected by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
There are five people on the committee - who’ve been elected by Norway’s parliament.
So, who gets to put names forward to the committee in the first place?
Academics, university professors, scientists, previous winners and members of national governments are all eligible to submit names of those who they feel should win the Nobel Peace Prize.
The awarding body says there are 343 candidates for 2022 - of which 251 are individuals and 92 are organisations.
But as usual, it’s not disclosed names of who’s on the shortlist.
