The first videos posted on social media showed the army arriving in a western district. Now we have footage of soldiers being hugged as they plant a flag outside the main police headquarters in Liuteranska St, which is deep in the south of the city.

Russia's defence ministry said its withdrawal from the city only ended in the early hours of this morning so the change of power in Kherson is moving fast. We don't yet know where in Kherson the Ukrainian army is still to reach.
But in the past hour we have also seen video of a crowd outside the main admin building in the centre of the city welcoming a man and a woman in uniform and chanting "ZSU, ZSU!", the initials for the Ukrainian armed forces.
