  10. Could the Pope change things for sexual minorities in Uganda?published at 10.58

As the Pope gets ready to leave Kenya and go to Uganda this afternoon, there is some speculation about whether the Pope will say anything about criminalising homosexuality.

But even if he does speak against ostracising sexual minorities, activist Cleo Kambugu told BBC Newsday that it may not make a difference in Uganda.

    "He has some clout.

"When he says something about something everyone will want to say something similar to that.

"But it could mean nothing because he is a foreigner.

"The sexual minority struggle has been turned into an imperialistic struggle of western versus African."

  17. Pope says employment is answer to radicalisationpublished at 08:53

Speaking to young people in a stadium in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, the Pope has addressed concerns over radicalisation:

    Quote Message

What can we do to stop young people being recruited in radicalisation? To answer this, we have to ask, why do young people who are full of ideals allow themselves to be radicalised in this way. They leave their family friends, they leave their tribe, they leave their country, they leave their lives behind in order to learn to kill.

    Quote Message

If a young woman or man has no work, can not study, what can he or she do? The first thing we have to do to stop a young person to be recruited is education and work.

  20. Pope's anecdote against corruptionpublished at 08:42

The Pope has just been sharing this anecdote which he says is a true story from his home town:

    Quote Message

A man died and we all knew that he was corrupt. I asked a few days afterwards 'how did the funeral go?' and a lady with a great sense of humour answered: 'They couldn't close the coffin properly because he wanted to put inside the coffin all the money he’d robbed'.
