Angola's Defence Minister Joao Lourenco, 62, will be the ruling MPLA party's candidate in presidential elections due in August, President Jose Eduardo dos Santos has announed.

Mr Dos Santos, 74, confirmed that he will step down after 38 years in power in the southern African state which is rich in oil and diamonds

Cameroon will play Egypt in the final, they lost to the Pharaoh's in the 2008 final

Cameroon made it through to the Africa Cup of Nations final to face Egypt in a repeat of the 2008 title decider. They beat Ghana 2-0 in Franceville yesterday evening.

Over half a dozen players including Joel Matip of Liverpool refused to play at this Nations Cup for Cameroon for various reasons. What must they be thinking now?

This was a famous win – masterminded by coach Hugo Broos and acted out to near perfection by his players on the field.

Cameroon started the game with far more attacking intent than displayed so far at this tournament while Ghana barely troubled Cameroon goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa all game.

Jordan Ayew missed from a tight angle in the first half but after 72 minutes when Ghana failed to clear a free-kick, Michael Ngaedu lifted home at the back post.

The defender is now Cameroon’s top scorer with two goals.

Ghana threw on injury doubt Asamoah Gyan but it was Cameroon who had the final say with a break away goal finished cooly by the Christian Bassogog to spark wondrous scenes inside the Stade de Franceville and somewhat unexpectedly take the four-time champions through to their first final since losing to Egypt in 2008.

Mr Chinamasa says Zimbabweans should develop a culture of paying taxes

Many black businessmen in  Zimbabwe refuse to pay taxes, but expect the government to provide them with public services, Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa has said, the private NewsDay newspaper reports, external.

Mr Chinamasa challenged MPs in parliament to offer constructive suggestions on how to improve the government's income, saying that only 3% of every $100 ( £80) of revenue collected went towards delivering services while the bulk was consumed by the wage bill, the newspaper added.

It quoted the minister as saying:

    Quote Message

We must come to parliament to change that structure and we cannot change it if we continue to speak in tongues.

    Quote Message

If you do not want to be taxed, please do not shout and expect better service delivery. Our people in the informal sector do not want to be taxed. When a black person takes over a business, they do not want to pay taxes.

    Quote Message

If we want good health, education and roads, we need to have a culture of paying taxes. Who then is supposed to pay taxes, as I cannot tax foreigners."
