Africa Live reported earlier how the angry crowd attacked him and he had to be saved by the officers who arrested him.
Kimani said he has been involved in selling cat meat for seven years, reportedly to people who sold it in samosas.
According to Kenya's Meat Control Law, cat meat is not prescribed as human food.
But while cat meat is considered unacceptable and a taboo in Kenya, it is a delicious meal in some countries.
Cats are regularly eaten in parts of West Africa.
They are also eaten in China, Vietnam and Korea, where the meat is eaten on its own or added to other flesh for a touch of extra flavour.
Egypt have Mo Salah to thank for the team's opening goal.

Mohamed Salah has not been at his best at the World Cup
Egypt's key player Mohamed Salah starts despite an initial tweet, later deleted, from the national association stating that he would not be in the starting XI against Saudi Arabia.
There had been reports, later denied by Egypt's FA, that the Liverpool forward was on the verge of quitting the national team as a result of criticism over his appearance with Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
The Egypt-Saudi Arabia match starts in about 15 minutes, and you can follow minute-minute coverage on our football live page.

The killing of cats is illegal in Kenya
A man in Kenya has allegedly confessed to killing more than 1,000 cats since 2012, and selling their meat to samosa-makers, local media reports.
Angry residents assaulted the middle-aged man after catching him skinning a slaughtered cat in an open field outside Nakuru town, west of the capital, Nairobi.
He was rescued by police, and detained. He is due to appear in court today. It is unclear what charges he will face or how he will plead.
But the slaughtering of cats and selling their meat is illegal in Kenya, veterinary officer Githui Kaba was quoted by Nairobi News as saying.
“According to the Meat Control Act, it is dangerous to eat uninspected meat and flesh from animals not prescribed to be human food. The Act says cat meat is not food,” he added.
The man confessed to killing more than 1,000 cats after he was almost lynched by the angry crowd, Kenya's Star newspaper reported.

Meet the Kenyan priest rapping about religion
A Catholic priest in Kenya has been suspended from leading public mass for a year because he rapped during sermons, his superior has told me.
Father Paul Ogallo, who was nicknamed "Sweet Paul", had to choose between being a rapper and a priest, Bishop Philip Anyolo, of the Homa Bay Diocese in western Kenya, said.
The bishop insisted Father Ogallo was free to use rap and drama to preach to young people but not on the altar.
The sacred and the secular could not mix, he added.
Father Ogallo, who was suspended last month, had a year to think about the seriousness of life as a priest, Bishop Anyolo said.
His suspension means he cannot be the main priest during public mass but is allowed to lead private mass, the bishop added.

Mr Salvini - who took office earlier this month - wants migrants trying to travel to Europe to be processed at centres in northern Africa, which would require international rules to be rewritten.
He's urged rescue charities to stop helping those attempting to make the dangerous Mediterranean crossing.
Libya's navy says it rescued nearly 1,000 migrants in distress over the weekend.
