Moroccans are expressing shock on social media at the details given by a 17-year-old of her rape ordeal.

In a TV interview last week, the young woman, being named as Khadija, said she was abducted by a gang in June, held for two months, sexually assaulted and tortured.

She also showed scars, cigarette burns and tattoos on her body, which she said were given to her by her captors.

Many women in Morocco are the victims of violence, human rights groups say.

A 51-year-old man, charged with treason alongside Ugandan pop star and MP Bobi Wine, fainted in the packed courtroom during his bail application.

Shaban Atiku had to be carried out after he collapsed.

A total of 33 people applied for bail after they were charged with treason, in a case which has drawn international condemnation.

They have been in detention for nearly two weeks following allegations that they were behind the stoning of President Yoweri Museveni's convoy during campaigning for a by-election in Arua municipality in north-western Uganda.

The winner of the by-election, Kassiano Wadri, is among the accused, and had also been granted bail.

But he has been banned from visiting his constituency for three months without the permission of the court.

The state did not oppose bail. However, because of the large number of defendants, only 12 applications were heard before the lunch break.

Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, appeared in court on crutches and had difficulty in sitting.

The musician-turned-lawmaker had allegedly been beaten up whilst he was in military custody.

Other defendants have also complained about being tortured.

This has been denied by the authorities.

The vessel was rammed by a British merchant ship in thick pre-dawn fog.

The prime minister will hand it to President Cyril Ramaphosa in Cape Town on Tuesday.

Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta will meet US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office for 20 minutes before going into an expanded bilateral meeting in the Cabinet Room with their delegations.

The US is the largest source of tourists to Kenya and the country hopes direct flights from Nairobi to New York from October will boost arrivals.

Kenya is the 85th largest supplier of goods imported into the US and trade between the two countries is worth $1.5bn (£1.17bn) , according to America’s Department of Commerce.

Kenya also wants to secure financing for a new $4.5bn highway from the port city of Mombasa to the capital Nairobi.

Kenya is seen as a strategic partner to the US in the fight against terror in the East and Horn of Africa and both countries have troops in Somalia.

Strengthening security cooperation will be on the agenda when the two leaders meet in Washington DC.

President Kenyatta will also meet UK Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday in Nairobi after she visits South Africa and Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari thanked Mr Trump for inviting him to the White House

US President Donald Trump told his aides he never again wanted to meet someone so lifeless as Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari, 75, following their meeting at the White House in April, three unnamed sources have told the UK-based Financial Times newspaper.

Mr Buhari was the first leader from sub-Saharan Africa to be invited by Mr Trump to the White House, suggesting that the US president saw Nigeria - a leading oil producer which is battling militant Islamists - as a key ally.

Mr Trump is due to meet Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta later on Monday to discuss trade and security.

"Trump likes chemistry. Africa has never been high on his radar but if the big guy likes you he'll find a way to make things work," an unnamed person in contact with US and Kenyan officials told the Financial Times.
