    Stories from those rescued overnight have emerged this morning. Two journalists working for national broadcaster NTV found themselves caught in the siege for over 12 hours.

    "We are crammed inside the toilet with a number of guys," messaged reporter Silas Apollo to a WhatsApp group with other journalists while hiding. "I'm very scared."

    They told newspaper The Nation that they could hear the exchanges, external between the attackers and security officers from their hideout.

    DusitD2 hotel siege 'not over'

    We resume our live coverage of the attack on Nairobi's DusitD2 hotel complex, where security forces are still trying to gain control.

    At least 15 people have been killed in the attack that began at 15:00 (12:00 GMT) on Tuesday.

    Some civilians are reportedly still trapped in the luxury hotel, with an apparent siege developing on the second day of the attack by al-Shabab militants.

    Some 50 people are reported to have been rescued on Wednesday morning; others have been texting relatives from hiding places.

    The militants are said to be holed up on the hotel's seventh floor.

    Somalia's al-Shabab group has alleged online that it killed dozens in today's attack in Kenya's capital.

    A message posted on the pro-al-Shabab's Somali Memo website reported a death toll of 47 - without offering any further evidence.

    Kenyan police are yet to confirm the extent of casualties and a security operation is still ongoing.

    There is nothing to support the militant group's claim and there has been no official statement from the government regarding a death toll.
