Kenya's chief prosecutor Noordin Haji has been talking about the decision to charge Finance Minister Henry Rotich, and other officials, over the contracts given to an Italian company to build two dams.

In March, Mr Rotich denied any wrongdoing in a large newspaper advert.

Today, commenting on the investigation into the way the contracts were awarded, the prosecutor added:

A transgender Kenyan woman has won her legal battle to have her name changed on her academic certificates, the Daily Nation reports, external.

In 2014, Audrey Mbugua, who was formerly known as Andrew Ithibu Mbugua, went to court to get the name changed. The High Court ordered the country's education authorities to amend the name on the certificates, but the national examination authority (Knec) appealed against the decision.

At the time, Judge Weldon Korir said the authority had failed to demonstrate why it could not make the changes she desired.

The Court of Appeal said that Knec had not established a basis to overturn the decision, the Daily Nation reports.

In 2014, Ms Mbugua described the High Court's decision as a "huge watershed moment".

A member of Nigeria's air force has returned a parcel to its owner that contained 37,000 euros ($41,500; £33,300) in cash, the air force says.

Bashir Umar is a member of the force's Mobile Air Defence Team that is deployed to Kano airport, northern Nigeria, for security duties.

The air force in a statement said, external he was on routine patrol with his colleagues when he found the parcel containing the lost money.

Instead of keeping it, the air force says the serviceman found a telephone number on the parcel which turned out to be the contact for the money's owner.

Mr Umar will now be rewarded "so as to encourage other personnel of the service", the air force says. Exactly how he will be rewarded is not clear.

This isn't the first time honest staff have returned forgotten valuables at Nigeria's airports.

Last August, the airport authorities in Lagos honoured two security guards, external for returning a "sum of money and expensive items", and in September, a cleaner was commended, external for returning "lost valuable" of a passenger.

Kenyans have been sharing tales of the difficulties of finding a job after a TV news report highlighted the story of a top graduate who was homeless for a year after failing to find employment.

Citizen TV spoke to Kelvin Ochieng, a first-class honours student in actuarial science, who is now living in a slum area of the capital, Nairobi, after someone took pity on him.

He said he thought that actuarial science would get him a decent job. Mr Ochieng, who grew up in poor circumstances, outlined the companies he applied to for a job, but no-one employed him.

He said he wanted to bring his grandmother "out of poverty". Mr Ochieng now gets money as a parking guard in Nairobi city centre.

A job survey released last year estimated that 1.22 million Kenyans between 15 and 34 were unemployed, amounting to 11.4% of people in that age bracket.

The authorities in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, have banned political rallies over tensions between supporters of rival parties, AFP news agency reports.

It quotes the head of the city's police force, Gen Sylvano Kasongo, as saying on state television on Sunday that the local governor made the order.

"Anyone who attempts to march or disturb the public order this week will find the police in their way," he said.

The tensions are between supporters of President Felix Tshisekedi and his predecessor Joseph Kabila, AFP reports.

Mr Tshisekedi's backers wanted to hold a march to object to the nomination of someone from Mr Kabila's party to become the head of the senate. Mr Kabila's supporters then announced a counter rally.

Despite winning the presidency in December, Mr Tshisekedi's party did not win a parliamentary majority.

A Nigerian couple at the heart of a rape accusation against a leading pastor in the country, say their lives are at risk.

Photographer Busola Dakolo and her husband Timi Dakolo held a press conference in Nigeria's commercial hub Lagos on Sunday. Mr Dakolo is quoted by online newspaper Premium Times as saying, external: “We have been followed, our home has been watched."

In a widely-shared video last month, Ms Dakolo alleged that Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (Coza) raped her as a teenager, prompting protests at branches of the church. The pastor has denied the accusation, and has since "taken a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church"., external

On Saturday, Mr Dakolo posted on his Instagram page that some police officers forced their way into his home, and attempted to take him and his wife away.

The police later confirmed they invited the couple as part of an on-going investigation touching on the "wider and highly publicised case involving Bisola Dakolo, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and others".

The actions of the police were criticised online and drew reactions from Amnesty International and Nigeria's first lady, Aisha Buhari.

Tagging the country's police chief, Mrs Buhari shared a report about the way the Dakolos have been treated and added the hashtag #SayNoToRape.

The Zimbabwean football fan who travelled from Cape Town to Cairo in an epic road trip to watch the Africa Cup of Nations has lost his passport in Egypt.

This is just the latest incident of an adventure which has seen Alvin "Aluvah" Zhakata become a celebrity.

Sadly, he did not get to see the Zimbabwe Warriors play in their first match. He did, however, get a ticket to see Friday's final - a special present from the head of African football - which saw Algeria beat Senegal 1-0.

That, though, may have been Zhakata's undoing as he lost his passport at the match while supporting Senegal, the BBC's Steve Vickers reports.

Luckily someone did find it, but the passport somehow made its way to Alexandria, 220km (137 miles) from Cairo.

Zhakata should get it back on Monday.

His philosophy is that you need to be "patient and strong" while pursuing your dream - no doubt that has come in handy in the latest drama in his adventure.
