    A little more on the news we brought you in the past hour: prosecutors are investigating suspected "fraud" and "breach of correspondence secret" in their hacking inquiry, AFP news agency reports.

    About nine gigabytes of documents were leaked on a file-sharing website late on Friday by an anonymous user.

    Mr Macron's En Marche movement said internal campaign documents, including emails and financial data, had been taken several weeks ago in an "act of massive, co-ordinated hacking".

    This voter noticed an election official with an "Underwood 2016" T-shirt - a reference to the main character in the House of Cards TV series, which chronicles backstabbing and underhanded dealings in the political world.

    It's the "best election official t-shirt ever", the voter says.

    Voters have also been taking papers with joke names on that they printed at home into voting cubicles and photographing them there.

    France Info describes this practice as an "election classic".

    This voter was "voting" for French NBA basketball star Boris Diaw of the Utah Jazz.

    "Let's be serious - there's no better president," he says.

    A pollster says the fall in turnout appears to be less in areas where Le Pen got good results in the first round. This seems to confirm that a low overall turnout benefits Le Pen.

    The French interior ministry has just reported a sharp fall in turnout as of 17:00 (15:00 GMT), compared to the previous two elections. They gave 65.3% compared to 71.9% at this stage on election day 2012 and 75.1% in 2007.

    Law and order and the continuing terror threat are major issues in the polls. At least 238 people have been killed in jihadist attacks in France since 2015, according to recent data from AFP. So where do the candidates stand?

    Macron:

    Le Pen:

    Their positions on Europe, and indeed on whether France should remain part of the European Union, could not be more different.

    Macron wants to:

    1. Reform the EU by giving the eurozone a separate budget, finance minister and parliament (MEPs from the 19 countries that use the euro)
    2. In Brexit negotiations, insist that EU Single Market rules apply fully to all trade partners
    3. Promote free trade deals like Ceta - the EU-Canada deal

    Le Pen wants to:

    1. Negotiate with the EU to repatriate powers to France and reform the bloc, then hold an in/out referendum on France's EU membership
    2. Restore full border controls, leave the Schengen open borders system, appoint 6,000 new customs officers
    3. Scrap the EU posted workers directive, to block competition from foreign workers in France.

    When he declined to stand for re-election, his Socialist Party picked Benoît Hamon (below, voting today) as its presidential candidate. Hamon crashed out of the contest in the first round and now the Socialists are facing a long, hard look at their future.
