We'll soon be wrapping up our coverage, but first let's run through some of today's main headlines coming out of Russia and Ukraine.
- In Belgorod, a region in south-western Russia bordering Ukraine, 18 people were killed, including three children, and a further 111 have been injured
- Russia blamed Ukraine for the strikes. A Ukrainian security source told the BBC that Kyiv fired 70 drones at Russian military targets, but they blamed a failure in Russia's air defences for fragments falling in Belgorod
- The region's governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said Saturday's attack was the worst since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In a Telegram post, Gladkov wrote that "shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine has had the most severe consequences of the last two years"
- Earlier, two villages were targeted in the region of Bryansk and a child was killed, the local governor said
- Russia requested an urgent UN Security Council meeting in the wake of events, which is scheduled to take place at 21:00 GMT
- Moscow said it would retaliate and reports of attacks in Ukraine have been coming in throughout the evening. In Kharkiv, 19 people were injured, local authorities said
- Today's events come a day after a Russian bombardment across Ukraine killed 39 people. Those strikes were described by Kyiv as Russia's biggest missile bombardment of the war so far
