The delay of the Island Games in Guernsey to 2023 will give member islands the chance to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, the head of the International Island Games Association has said.
Organisers have confirmed Guernsey will host the postponed 2021 Island Games in 2023 after the multi-sport event was originally called off in September.
The games were originally due to be held between 3 and 9 July.
About 3,500 competitors and officials from small islands across the world and 1,000 volunteers were set to take part.
Chairman of the International Island Games Association Jorgen Pettersson said time was needed to take stock of events.
