Guernsey's main airlines, Aurigny and Flybe, have promised to do all they can to minimise any disruption caused by planned Swissport strikes at UK airports on the run up to Christmas.

Swissport provides check-in staff and baggage handling services to many UK airports and some staff will walk out on Friday and Saturday if an agreement isn't reached over pay and conditions.

Jersey and Guernsey airports will not be directly affected but islanders travelling on to UK airports could face disruption.

    Ryan Morrison
    BBC News Online

A Jersey deputy is concerned waiting times for the hospital's MRI scanner will get longer as the population grows and ages.

People are currently waiting, on average, 16 weeks for the machine which uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body.

That's compared to six weeks in Guernsey and two weeks in the UK.
