    Well the X Factor producers are in Guernsey today, looking for contestants for the next season.

    Auditions are taking place between 10:00 and 16:30 today at the Market Place Shopping Centre, but you have to be 16 or older to take part.

    Jersey police say someone "fed up with parking problems" could have damaged cars at La Pouquelaye.

    Cars have been scratched and vandalised in recent months, causing £10,000 worth of damage. 

    Officers say they've been called out to 29 incidents of malicious damage to vehicles at La Pouquelaye recently - peaking in November and December.

    Police suspect whoever is responsible is disgruntled with parking issues in the area - especially on private roads.

    They have spoken to residents in the area, sent leaflets out asking for information, and are also working undercover to try and catch those responsible.

    Jersey's environment minister wants to follow the UK in stopping small pieces of plastic from beauty products ending up in the sea.

    The UK government has proposed banning the sale and manufacture of products containing plastics known as microbeads.

    They're small pieces of plastic that are often found in shower gels, face scrubs and toothpaste.

    Deputy Steve Luce says he would happily ban products with microbeads in Jersey.

    Environmentalists fear microbeads - which are used as an abrasive cleaning agent - are building up in oceans and potentially entering the food chain.

    Her Majesty The Queen has granted the Bailiff of Guernsey a two-year extension to his appointment.

    Sir Richard Collas will now be in post until the year 2020.

    He was installed as the 89th Bailiff of Guernsey in March 2012, having previously served as the Deputy Bailiff since 2005.

    He had previously been due to retire in May 2018.

    The death of a baby in Guernsey was not reported to the proper authorities for two years, a hearing has been told.

    Senior midwife Maria Patterson told the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) there were "systemic concerns" and a lack of supervision at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

    She said nothing was done to change procedures on the maternity ward.

    Three midwives face charges relating to the death of a baby in January 2014. The Nursing and Midwifery Council believes that had the death of another baby 'Baby B' been adequately investigated, the death of the 'Baby A' may have been prevented.

    Ms Paterson said: "It was clear that the safety net was not working."

    The hearing continues.

  11. Serious incident on Aurigny plane down to 'poor decision-making'published at 08:01 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    Poor decision-making by a pilot led to a commercial flight having to divert, investigators have said.

    The Manchester to Guernsey Aurigny flight landed at East Midlands Airport on 4 March 2016.

    The Air Accidents Investigation Branch concluded ice contamination was the cause of problems and could have been avoided if the aircraft had been de-iced.

    Aurigny said under its procedures it would have expected, under the weather conditions, for the plane to be de-iced.
