Islanders who go for bowel cancer screening could reduce their chance of getting the disease by 45%.
Dr Moses Duku, consultant gastroenterologist at Jersey's General Hospital said the screening programme in Jersey is even more successful than the UK.
He said, if bowel cancer is identified early, there is a 90% chance of it being cured.
