  1. 'Most of St Aubin's Bay safe for swimmers again'published at 10:38 British Summer Time 29 June 2020

    Pollution sign

St Aubin's Bay water has returned to 'excellent' following pollution into the bay after a slurry spill last week, but swimmers are still being advised to not use Victoria Pool.

Samples indicate the water quality is excellent everywhere else in the bay, but Victoria Pool still shows poor quality and will be sampled again on Monday, the Government of Jersey said.

Environmental Health recommends islanders chose not to swim in the pool, but says they can enjoy the rest of the beach and bathing waters.

People arriving by sea into Jersey will be tested for coronavirus at a new facility next to the Elizabeth Terminal.

It follows the announcement that Jersey's borders could reopen from 3 July. States ministers are due to debate this week whether or not people can start travelling to Jersey.

The new test centre was being erected as part of a testing and tracking regime for people arriving by sea, and was due to be completed before the first passengers started to arrive, officials said.

    BBC Radio Jersey

People whose mental health has been suffering as a result of the Covid-19 lockdown in Jersey have been reminded they can ask for help.

Dr Patricia Tumelty, from Mind Jersey, said coming out of lockdown could create more anxieties for some islanders.

Last week social distancing was reduced from 2m (6ft 6in) to 1m (3ft 3in), and ministers announced that travel restrictions could be lifted from 3 July.

The charity said islanders could get in touch if they feel they needed assistance.
