    That’s it!

After 12 hours of voting, the polls have closed.

In the next few minutes, bundles of ballot papers will be tipped onto tables around the island, as counting commences.

With a new voting system now in place, it’s not clear when the results will start coming in.

But no matter when they are revealed, we will be bringing you all the results, as they are announced, live on BBC Radio Jersey.

We have reporters at each of the counts, and they will be keeping us up to date throughout the evening on our special election night programme, which is under way right now.

Over the next few hours, we will be hearing the thoughts of dozens of people - from former politicians to experts on the issues facing the island; first-time voters to those who remember the committee system; newly-elected States Members to candidates who don’t get in.

I'll be joining our presenter Matthew Price, along with political analyst Adrian Lee and Paul Rowley, who spent decades as a BBC Correspondent in Westminster.

So for analysis, comment, reaction and, of course, all the results, please do join us as we find out who is in…and who is not. You can listen on 88.8FM, DAB+ (BBC Radio Jersey), or BBC Sounds.

A quarter of islanders eligible to vote did not register for the 2022 elections, officials confirmed.

A total of 60,701 people were registered to vote compared to 62,123 for the 2018 election.

Vote.je said it reflected "a reduction in the population size", noting the estimated population of Jersey was 106,800 in 2018 compared to 103,267 in 2021.

The parish with the highest percentage of registered voters was St Mary.
