    The Dallas Cowboys American football team and the National Football League (NFL) have both donated $50,000 to a fund for El Paso families.

    Charlotte Anderson, an executive with the Dallas Cowboys,said in a statement, external: "Our organisation has long enjoyed a wonderful following from the people of El Paso, and our wish is that so many others in Texas and around the country will be inspired to assist the loved ones who are grieving."

    The Cincinnati Bengals donated $75,000 to a similar fund in Dayton.

    "Dayton is part of our community and we are saddened by the tragic events that took place this weekend," Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn said in a statement.

    Nearly three-fourths of Democrats say that some responsibility for the mass shootings in the US is borne by the president, according to a new USA Today/Ipsos poll, external.

    Less than a fourth of Republicans blame him.

    Most people, regardless of their political party, say lawmakers should cancel their summer holiday and stay in Washington to work on gun laws, according to the poll.

    Mayor Dee Margo and Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn greeted Trump and the First Lady as they disembarked. Mark Morgan, the acting commissioner of Customs and Border Patrol was also present.

    Trump will now visit with first responders, hospital staff, victims and families at the University Medical Center of El Paso, the White House says.

    The raids at food plants in Mississippi saw over 600 mostly Latino workers arrested, local media say.

    The gunman in El Paso is believed to have carried out the attack that left 22 dead to combat a "Hispanic invasion".

    The body of one of the victims of the El Paso shooting, teacher Elsa Mendoza, has been received by her family in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

    At least seven Mexican nationals were among the 20 people killed.

    Mexico's Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for North America, Jesus Seade, described the El Paso attack as "xenophobic barbarism".

    Tito Anchondo, who lost his brother Andre and sister-in-law Jordan in the shooting at El Paso's Walmart, voiced his support for Trump earlier this week.

    "As an American, you need to stand behind the president," he told the BBC.

    He noted there were differing views in his hometown, with Trump supporters and those who back Democrat Beto O'Rourke, but said everyone coexisted happily.

    His father Gilbert, he added, is a Mexican American who is proud of his roots and has always said America is the greatest nation on earth.

    Both said they were pleased with Trump's comments in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, and the fact he had expressed his sympathy.

    "Mr Trump made a good statement," said Gilbert Anchondo. "He's making reforms and we appreciate it."

    Democratic presidential hopeful Beto O'Rourke is speaking at a counter-rally in El Paso.

    "We live in a country that is not safe, that refuses to pass laws to end gun violence," O'Rourke said.

    He criticised Trump for "vilifying" immigrants.

    "That inaction in the face of violence and intolerance will find us, and it did."

    Trump is expected to land in El Paso soon.

    Governor Greg Abbott met lawmakers today to collaborate on "potential strategies to improve the safety and security of Texas communities".

    He also announced that Texas will be providing over $5.5m (£4.5m) in immediate financial assistance for law enforcement agencies and the community of El Paso. That includes funding for behavioural health services and school-based mental health services, plus long-term psychological counseling for survivors.

    Echoing earlier criticism from his social media manager, Trump has attacked the local Democrats who accompanied him to the hospital.

    Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown was a "failed Presidential Candidate (0%)" he said.

    Mr Brown had said some nice things about the president: "He was comforting. He did the right things."

    But the senator also told reporters he had tried to engage Mr Trump about gun control.

    Perhaps that is what has enraged the president.
