Paltrow says Sanderson fell and hit the ground after the collision. She makes clear she is not alleging the crash was a sexual assault.

At first, she testifies, she froze, and then pushed down the hill, turned around and shouted at Sanderson.

"I don’t remember yelling or screaming until I was very angry at what had happened," says Paltrow.

She says she said to Sanderson as he was on the the ground: “What are you doing?”

Sanderson, she says, replied: “I think you skied into me?”

Paltrow screamed: "You skied directly into my [expletive] back!"

The actress agrees Sanderson mumbled: “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”

"I apologise for my bad language," Paltrow says on the stand.

  3. Paltrow and Sanderson fell, almost 'spooning'published at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

Paltrow tells the court she was initially unsure whether the collision was an intentional assault of a sexual nature.

When asked if the man was "grinding" her, Paltrow says there was a "very strange grunting noise".

She tells the court she was wondering: "Is this a practical joke? Is someone doing something perverted?”

"He was groaning and grunting in a very disturbing way,” Paltrow's deposition said.

She said they fell together and were almost "spooning".

  4. Paltrow felt a man behind her who 'grunted'published at 21:29 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

The legal team are now taking Paltrow through step by step what happened in the 2016 collision.

She says she was going along the slopes really slowly and said she felt a man behind her "grunting".

"He was making strange noises and was large - like a male," she tells the court.

"I felt all my back pressing. I froze and I got very upset a couple of seconds later.

"Two skis came in between my skis, and [I heard] a very strange grunting noise."

  5. 'I was skied directly into by Mr Sanderson'published at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

Paltrow is asked if her son, Moses, was saying "mommy, mommy, watch me" when the crash occurred.

Paltrow says she does not recall the boy saying that at all that day.

Asked to read from her deposition, taken in 2020, she reads a sentence she told lawyers back then.

"I can still watch my children and be skied directly into my back by someone. Which is what happened," she said in 2020.

On Friday, she says she is not exactly sure where her attention was focused when she was hit.

"My daughter was downhill. My son was to my left. I was skiing. My eyes were not fixated directly on my son as Mr Sanderson skied directly into my back."

She continued: "I was skiing and looking downhill as you do. And I was skied directly into by Mr Sanderson."

  6. Paltrow was watching her children when 'struck in the back'published at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

More from Paltrow, who alleges it was Terry Sanderson who crashed into her on the slopes - which forms the basis of her counter-lawsuit.

"I was skiing and my eyes were on my son when Mr Sanderson skied directly into my back," Paltrow says.

The actress tells the court she can't recall exactly where her attention was when she was hit.

She continues: "I was skiing downhill and I was skied directly into by Mr Sanderson."

  8. Paltrow was familiar with Deer Valley ski runpublished at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

Paltrow is being asked to cast her mind back to the day of the accident with Terry Sanderson while skiing in Utah in 2016.

She accepts it is a ski run she was familiar with.

Paltrow puts on some reading glasses as she reads over her deposition.

  9. 'Risky behaviour' debatepublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

The top of "risky behaviour" is now being discussed, with Paltrow insisting that the presence of her children that day had no bearing on the way she was skiing.

"I wouldn't engage with risky behavior, with or without my children there," she testifies.

Sanderson's laywer is trying to get Paltrow to admit that she has sometimes engaged in risky behaviour when her children were present.

"I have always been very open and honest with my kids. And they know me very well," she says, denying that she has ever done what is being described.

After an objection from her lawyer, both sides' legal counsels have approached the bench for an off-the-record discussion with the judge.

Turning to the Paltrow's ski trip as it relates to the case and Sanderson's lawsuit - his lawyer asks the actress whether the ski lessons for her four children were "fairly expensive".

Asked what the cost was, Paltrow responds: "Whatever the Deer Valley rate is, is whatever we paid."

The lessons for the kids cost over $8,000, the lawyer says.

Tips are extra, the lawyer points out asking Paltrow: "Under oath, are you a good tipper?"

Paltrow chuckles and says she is.

  11. Paltrow would not have left the accident scene without leaving detailspublished at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

Paltrow starts by insisting she was not at fault for the collision.

She is asked: "At the time of the collision did you know of the rule of skiing that you need to share your contact name?"

Paltrow replies: "I don't think I was aware of the rule.

"I would not have left the scene without leaving my information and my information was left."

Paltrow says she was told her ski instructor said he would leave the information.

  12. 'Everybody already knows who you are'published at 21:02 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

One of Terry Sanderson's lawyers begins by saying the court can dispense with the typical background question, due to Paltrow's fame.

"Everybody already knows who you are," she tells the Oscar-winning actress.

She's then asked to describe her ski experience.

"I would characterise myself as intermediate," Paltrow says, confirming that she has been skiing since she was a child.

A sharp question from Stephen Owens who asks Shae Herath if her father has a "clear recollection of who hit who" on the 2016 ski crash.

She answers: "He has a clear recollection of hearing a scream and being hit."

Shae accepts she made corrections in her deposition but says it isn't "simple".

She recalls re-reading the question and felt she answered the who hit who part wrong.

"He had been knocked out," she says.

  18. Sanderson still coming up with new memories of accident - lawyerpublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

Shae Herath is asked if her memories immediately after the accident are likely to be clearer at the time of the incident - seven years ago - as opposed to now?

Paltrow's lawyer asks her, would it surprise you to hear that your father is still coming up with new memories of the accident now?

Mr Owens is asked to move on by the judge; he says he will ask Sanderson the same questions directly.

Returning to the 'I'm famous' email, written around 9pm on the evening of the collision, the lawyer asks if her father is an extrovert - if he would have enjoyed the attention?

"He gets energy from being around other people," says Herath

Stephen Owens is now asking Shae Herath about whether her father enjoyed being "notable" for being involved in a skiing accident with a celebrity.

He asks if Terry Sanderson sent her links to stories in the media about the incident, which she confirms by saying her father "kept me informed".

Owens finishes by asking if she agrees her father had said it was "cool that his name was in the press".

"I don't think he said that it was cool," she replies.

  20. Can Herath recall her dad describing Paltrow as Godzilla?published at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2023

A strong moment in the questioning as Stephen Owens asks if Shae Herath can recall her father describing Gwnyth Paltrow as Godzilla?

    "No," she says.

Owens carries on: "When you said Godzilla in your deposition what were you referring to?"

Shae replies: "I believe in a video of my dad talking about the collision that essentially he is skiing down the green run.

"Essentially what he said 'I heard a scream from behind me' - a bloodcurdling scream like Godzilla is coming and he is hit direct between the shoulder blades."

Shae admits she wasn't there on the day of the collision.
