Chipmunk's schedule has "taken its toll" according to his record label

Chipmunk has cancelled all of his upcoming appearances due to 'exhaustion' says his record label.

It issued a statement after the 18-year-old put up a series of worrying messages on his Twitter page.

Some have now been removed but one read "I want to die". Another asked "is suicide easy?" and finally "This has been the most difficult time for me... But I will get through it!"

His label said: "Since finishing his A-levels and completing work on his album, Chipmunk has been working incredibly hard on generating a successful music career which has taken its toll on such a young artist."

Fan support

The statement continued: "Label and management have agreed to cancel all upcoming promotion and personal appearances to give the 18-year-old some much needed time off."

Chipmunk, real name Jamal Fyffe, has returned to Twitter today saying: "Thanks for the support. I'll be back soon!"

In October, he reached number one in the UK singles chart with his track Oopsy Daisy. He also collected a best hip hop award at this year's Mobo awards.
