The band show off their buff bodies in their new vampire themed promo

It's worked for Robert Pattinson's career and now McFly are taking on vampire roles as part of their comeback.

They've made a 30-minute big budget film with a storyline involving vampires to go with their new sound and look.

Tom from the band said: "We wanted to really push ourselves and we knew we didn't want to make a normal music video.

"So we made a 30-minute short movie."

Last month the group surprised fans by revealing they'd left behind their guitar pop sound to take on a new R&B direction.

Harry, Tom, Dougie and Danny combined their new musical path with a slick new look and buff bodies that they showed off by posing naked for Attitude magazine.

And it seems they strip off again for the movie, if the first preview shots revealed are anything to go by.

We're also told the film includes sex and violence.

The full McFly movie comes out in October

A 90-second teaser trailer from the movie will premiere Friday August 6 at 8pm on Mcfly.com.

Party Girl

The full film will be unveiled on 1 October. It coincides with the launch of their website, which the band have invested their own money in and are labelling a supersite.

The transformation of the band comes two years after they split from their record label and decided to try it on their own.

Tom says the band have been overwhelmed by the reaction to their new sound.

He told Newsbeat: "Even the fans that were really shocked to begin with have sent us messages a week later saying 'I was really surprised last week but it's like my favourite song now'."

McFly have now re-signed with their old label, Universal Island and they've been recording with top US producer Dallas Austin, who's worked with Madonna, Pink and Michael Jackson.

They've also worked with Taio Cruz. who helped write both JLS and Cheryl Cole's most recent releases.

McFly's comeback single Party Girl is out on 5 September.
