Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh gets 3D film role

Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh has landed a part in upcoming 3D children's film Horrid Henry: The Movie.

The 29-year-old will play a character called Prissy Polly and will appear alongside Hollywood actress Anjelica Huston and British star Richard E. Grant.

"I am so excited to have been asked," said Kimberley Walsh.

"The Horrid Henry books are wonderful and to be playing the role of Prissy Polly in 3D is incredible."

The film tells the tale of Horrid Henry, Lord High Majesty of the Purple Hand Gang, who's constantly battling the adults.

The story's based on the popular series of children's books and TV animations written by Francesca Simon, which have sold more than 16 million copies.

Anjelica Huston (The Addams Family) plays Henry's teacher Miss Battle-Axe, Rebecca Front is Henry's headmistress Ms Oddbod with Richard E. Grant playing a rival headmaster.

Parminder Nagra (Bend It Like Beckham) also stars as Miss Lovely and Noel Fielding, Jo Brand, Mathew Horne and Prunella Scales all make cameo appearances.

The film is being directed by Nick Moore, who has also edited About A Boy, Notting Hill, Love Actually, Nanny McPhee and The Full Monty.

The other members of Girls Aloud are keeping busy with Cheryl Cole working as a judge on The X Factor and releasing her second album, Messy Little Raindrops.

Nadine Coyle recently released her debut album, Nicola Roberts is writing solo material and has launched a make-up range called Dainty Doll while Sarah Harding is also releasing a solo record.

Girls Aloud said they were taking a year's break in 2009 but haven't announced any plans to get back together to record a new album and tour.
