Biffy Clyro have '20 songs' ready for next album

Biffy Clyro say they have more than 20 songs mapped out for their next album.

Speaking at last week's Kerrang! Awards, the band said they were sounding "awesome" and just needed fleshing out in the studio.

"We know what kind of album we're going to make," said frontman Simon Neil. "We know how it's going to play out, the structure of it."

The Kilmarnock three-piece say they want to head into the studio after they finish their live commitments.

"It's just a case of getting it done. We're champing at the bit," added Neil.

"Bands have to keep moving forward. Any band that sits for a few years not writing songs is in trouble."

The band released their last studio album, Only Revolutions, in 2009.

'Summer highlight'

Biffy Clyro have been supporting the Foo Fighters in America, playing a tour that also included metal legends Motorhead.

"It was a fabulous few weeks," said frontman Simon Neil. "We're very tired but very happy."

The band are also supporting the Foos on their two outdoor shows at Milton Keynes in July.

"It's gonna be one of the highlights of the summer," said Simon Neil.

"We're not doing too much [this summer] but the things we are doing are really great.

"We're doing Sonisphere, Glasto and the Foos' show. It doesn't get any better than that.

"Just to watch Foo Fighters for two nights in a row is gonna be pretty exciting."

Biffy Clyro picked up the classic songwriter prize at the Kerrang! Awards in recognition of songs like Many of Horror and Bubbles.
