Frank Ocean has cancelled several shows across Europe, including appearances at V Festival and Bestival.

The R&B singer has also pulled out of his support slot on Coldplay's European tour.

He was due to perform on V's Arena Stage at Weston Park in Staffordshire on Sunday 18 August, and at Hylands Park in Essex the following day.

The 24-year-old was also expected at Bestival on the Isle of Wight in September.

In a statement posted on Facebook, he said: "Let me start by saying I feel like an asshole right now but a tough decision had to be made in regard to my schedule over the next months.

"The casualties of that decision include my appearances at upcoming festivals in Europe and my opening slot of the European leg of the Coldplay world tour.

"I'll be back if you'll have me."

On 10 August, the singer cut short a set at a festival in Norway, saying he had vocal problems.

Frank Ocean finished second in the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll.

His debut Channel Orange reached number two in the UK album chart in July.
