The Foo Fighters played for just under two-and-a-half hours as they headlined Friday night at Leeds Festival.

The set included 22 tracks from The Pretender, All My Life, These Days from 2011's Wasting Light album, to a cover of Pink Floyd's In The Flesh?

During the encore Taylor Hawkins gave up his drum stool for Rufus Taylor, son of Queen's Roger Taylor, while he sang the British band's Tie Your Mama Down.

Meanwhile, The Cure headlined at Reading Festival.

The band have a quick turnaround before topping the bill at Leeds on Saturday night.

The band, formed at the end of the 1970s, also performed for more than two hours and played 31 songs.

Pulled Apart By Horses opened the main stage, the first time a band from the city has had that honour.

Ella Worthy, 17 and from Preston, said she was looking forward to seeing more acts at Bramham Park.

She said: "We've been here since Wednesday so we're feeling a bit grim but I want to see the Maccabees (Saturday) and Florence + the Machine (Sunday)."

The weather held for most of Friday at Leeds, although there was a downpour during Foo Fighters' set.

More rain is forecast for both sites on Saturday.

Green Day surprised fans at Reading on Saturday lunchtime with an unannounced performance.

They previewed material from upcoming triple album ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tre!, including Oh Love and Stay the Night.

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Radio 1 earlier this week the band said they couldn't confirm or deny the rumours but joked about playing their 1994 album Dookie.

Huw Stephens will be presenting the early afternoon show on Radio 1 between 1-4pm from Reading Festival on Saturday and Sunday. BBC Three will also be showing live performances through the weekend and there will be more on the red button.
