The Black Keys have announced details of a UK arena tour for this December.

The band from Ohio kick off their five shows at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena on 7 December and will end the tour at London's O2 Arena on December 12.

Tickets will go on sale on 31 August at 9am.

The duo performed on the main stage at this weekend's Leeds and Reading Festivals as part of a bill which also included Foo Fighters and the Kaiser Chiefs.

The December tour will begin nearly a year to the day after The Black Keys released their seventh album, El Camino.

The album debuted at number two in the US and has since gone gold in the UK.

The Maccabees will support the band on all five dates.

The tour dates are as follows:

Newcastle Metro Radio Arena - 7 December

Glasgow SECC - 8 December

Birmingham NIA - 9 December

Manchester Arena - 11 December

London O2 Arena - 12 December
