Cheryl has kicked off her first UK headline tour in Belfast with a show which featured a pyramid, Girls Aloud songs and a video duet with will.i.am.

Wearing a gold jumpsuit, the 29-year-old performed tracks from her three solo albums.

After the show Cheryl tweeted: "Belfast, thank you so much for being there and supporting me on my first night. You were amazing. I love you!"

The A Million Lights tour continues in Nottingham on Saturday (6 October).

Hit songs

The show started with the singer rising up through the pyramid and performing Sexy Den A Mutha.

She performed many of her hits including The Promise, Parachute, Under The Sun, The Flood and Fight For This Love.

She even dueted with her collaborator and manager will.i.am, who appeared on a big video screen for 3 Words.

There were a few technical problems and the singer had to reach for a hand-held microphone during her second song after her headset stopped working.

The singer sang live throughout the concert, despite having previously answered claims she often mimes.

The star also stumbled at one point when her heel got caught in her dress, but recovered without falling over.

Support

As part of Girls Aloud Cheryl has played at the Odyssey many times, a venue considered to be her bandmate Nadine Coyle's home turf.

Before the show Nadine tweeted: "Come on Belfast, let's show Cheryl one of our famous Irish welcomes."

Even though she didn't have the rest of her band mates with her, she played tribute to them by performing a medley of Love Machine, Biology and The Promise with her backing dancers making up the numbers.

Cheryl performed for 60 minutes and then came back to do an encore of Fight for This Love and Call My Name.

Katie Spraggon from Newcastle travelled to Belfast for the show.

She said: "I'm here supporting my Geordie lass on tour. She did Newcastle proud. Up the toon!"

Stephen Edgar from Belfast said: "It was a spectacular opening for a first show. She was an inspiration to us all."

Not all fans were happy with the show.

Ruth Clelland from Ballyclare said: "It was a little bit short for me. She was only on for an hour and then came back on to do on encore. It should have been longer."
