Biffy Clyro, Gaslight Anthem lead Radio 1 Rocks takeover

Biffy Clyro will be ending the Radio 1 live sessions with Twin Atlantic

Radio 1 will celebrate hard rock 'n' roll with a special week of shows, featuring bands like Biffy Clyro and The Gaslight Anthem.

The week of performances begins on Monday 22 October at 7pm with We Are The Ocean, Bring Me The Horizon and Bullet For My Valentine.

Four special shows, called Radio 1 Rocks, will be hosted by Zane Lowe.

Fans can apply for tickets to the sessions online at the Radio 1 site until Tuesday 16 October.

The series of intimate gigs kick off on 22 October.

Tuesday will feature Lower Than Atlantis and You Me At Six.

US bands Deap Vally and The Gaslight Anthem team up on Wednesday, with Biffy Clyro and Twin Atlantic rounding things off on Thursday.

Speaking on the Radio 1 Breakfast show with Nick Grimshaw, Zane Lowe said: "We're going to be focussing on hard rock and rock 'n' roll."
