Hampshire singer Laura Marling has revealed the name of her fourth studio album and its release date.

Once I Was An Eagle is out on 27 May and was recorded at the Three Crows studio in Los Angeles, owned by her producer Ethan Johns.

He has also worked with Kings of Leon and The Vaccines.

The 23-year-old says the record is "a hugely ambitious record that reflects the dark themes of (last studio album) A Creature I Don't Know".

Marling's friend Ruth de Turberville features on cello on the album, which has 16 tracks.

In 2011 the folk artist won the Brit Award for best British female solo artist.

She was nominated for the same prize the following year.

Both of her previous two albums have made it to number four on the UK album chart.
