The UK music licensing company (PPL) reveals the top 10 most played pop songs of 2012.

It included three British artists along with the likes of Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson.

Jessie J, who shaved her hair off for Comic Relief, topped the list with her second number one single Domino.

Emeli Sande's Next to Me, Moves Like Jagger and Payphone by Maroon 5 and Olly Murs's Dance With Me Tonight also feature.

Songs that stay

PPL work on behalf of record companies and performers to license the public performance and broadcast of recorded music.

This chart is compiled from PPL data that includes not just radio play but the use of recordings on television and in venues such as pubs, clubs, shops and bars.

Royalties collected are distributed to record companies and performers when their music is broadcast or used in public in the UK or abroad.

Jonathan Morrish from PPL said: "The top 10 most-played pop songs is always an impressive insight into what the nation has been listening to the previous year. These songs will undoubtedly stay with us for a long time."

Jessie J's Price Tag also featured in PPL's 2011 list of most played pop songs.
